The Guardian’s multimedia reporter Clancy Chassay interviews the members of a middle-class family living in the Gaza Strip about life under the Israeli blockade. The interview focuses on the 14 year old daughter Rana, who has to walk to school every day because there is no longer any fuel to run school buses. A lot of her teachers are not able to come to school because they are unable to drive to work any more. Many schools in Gaza have stopped providing courses requiring computers or sophisticated lab equipment because of the energy shortage. Rana’s father, a neurosurgeon in Gaza’s main hospital is concerned about the psychological impact of the blockade on Gaza’s youth.
